Megan Russell- Currie, PHD
Dr. Russell-Currie is a licensed psychologist with over 15 years of clinical and research experience. She obtained her Ph.D. from Drexel University where she studied under the mentorship of Dr. Arthur M. Nezu and was trained in evidence-based treatment modalities including cognitive therapy, cognitive-behavioral therapy, and problem solving therapy.
Dr. Russell-Currie has spent the past 14 years with Devereux Advanced behavioral Health and has ended her tenure there as the National Director of Clinical and professional Affairs where she provided oversight and leadership across the organization. She has extensive experience leading organizational, programmatic and research initiatives at both state and national levels and is a SAMHSA peer reviewer for grants, The Journal for Health Care Quality and a participant in the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry’s Outcomes Taskforce. Dr. Russell-Currie has served on a technical advisory panel for Joint commission (program to advise on the use of standardized tools in the field) and is currently on the American Psychological Association’s Advisory Board for Integrated Care.
Dr. Russell-Currie’s research experience includes outcome development and implementation, data-based clinical decision-making, implementation of evidence-based practices including dialectical behavioral therapy in community-based settings, and more recently predictive analytics. She has served as Chair for Devereux’s IRB since 2009 and mentored practicum students and doctoral interns.
Direct clinical areas of expertise include quality improvement processes, psychological and neurological assessment, functional-based assessment, and suicide risk assessment. Dr. Russell-Currie has in-depth training in treating those coping with depression, anxiety, high risk behaviors (e.g. self-injurious), disruptive behavior disorders, complex trauma, intellectual and developmental disabilities, dual diagnoses (I/DD, substance use) and psychological/medical co morbidities.
